OK C résolu.
J'ai tord d'être toujours trop pressé :p.

Au début du fichier XF86Config-4 il est noté :

J'ai fais ce qui était demandé et après redémarrage de X la résolution était de 1280x1024.
désolé pour ceux qui aurait perdu leur temp.
