dépendances 2.4.19

Bonjour à tous,

Je demande la simulation de l'installation d'un noyau 2.4.19 

sudo apt-get -s install kernel-image-2.4.19-686 -t testing

et j'ai la réponse suivante (abrégée) :

Inst util-linux (2.11n-4 Debian:testing, Debian:3.0/stable)
Inst modutils (2.4.19-3 Debian:testing)
Inst cramfsprogs (1.1-3 Debian:testing, Debian:3.0/stable)
Inst initrd-tools (0.1.33 Debian:testing)
Inst kernel-image-2.4.19-686 (2.4.19-3 Debian:testing)

Je suis intrigué par cramfsprogs et initrd-tools...
En quoi ces deux paquets sont ils indispensables au fonctionnement du
2.41.9 ?

(je suppose que par défaut le 2.4.19 installe un ramdisk ?)

Mais pour cramfsprogs :
 This package contains tools that let you construct a CramFs
 (Compressed ROM File System) image from the contents of a given
directory, as  well as checking a constructed CramFs image and
extracting its contents.
