Okay, then it would be good if you could send your
/var/lib/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf, the listing of /etc/temf/fmt.d/, and
the contents of the files in there that have been included in
fmtutil.cnf (i.e., that are mentioned in fmtutil.cnf in a "from file
$foo" line, not a "not included" line.

According to
http://tug.org/mailman/htdig/tex-live/2009-July/021295.html, makempx has
been removed. It seems I missed that change in texmf.cnf. I clone this
as a separate bug, and will commit the fix to the svn as soon as I get a
bug number. Or even earlier without it.
But perhaps we should wait with uploading a new tex-common until we are
sure there are no other changes needed.
