there rsync or svn is explained. rsync is probably fasster:
sync -a --delete --exclude=.svn tug.org::tldevsrc .
and needs less space, half of it, because all the .svn directories are
not there.
For svn use
svn co svn://tug.org/texlive/trunk
but in fact you only need
svn co svn://tug.org/texlive/trunk/Master
