Do you use
\bibliographystyle{CHOOSE_YOUR_STYLE}
\bibliography{CHOOSE_THE_NAME_OF_YOUR_BIB_FILE}

Ahh, can you please send a minimal example (short main.tex, short
include.tex, short, foo.bib, and the commands you run?)

Many people, *many* are using tex/latex/bibtex without problems, so
saying
*anything*
is a bit too much ;-)
