Package: tex-common Version: 0.37 Severity: wishlist In section 2.4 of TeX-on-Debian it is stated that a user can add a texmf.cnf file in TEXMFCONFIG. Please make clear that this file is under $TEXMFCONFIG/web2c/, not under $TEXMFCONFIG/, since references to the system texmf.cnf are mostly made by /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf and only once by /usr/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf. Please make clear that the first updmap.cfg (fmtutil.cnf, language.dat resp.) file found is used by updmap (fmtutil, tex? resp.), that all of them are not merged like the texmf.cnf are, and that a user (not only an administrator) can thus actually disable some settings. The man pages of update-updmap, update-fmtutil and update-language could also possibly benefit from this piece of information. To improve the presentation I moreover suggest that you move the information regarding user settings to a new subsection 2.4.3, after the system-wide settings have been presented. Regards
