I tend to agree with Florent. His solution is more complicated for us,
and especially for maintainers of other packages; but it seems cleaner
to me from the point of view of a user. Your new text is longer and more
explicative, but this might in turn annoy experienced users, and I think
package installations should be as quiet as possible.

On the other hand, we don't gain anything if we use Florents version
right now, but all other maintainer scripts still don't use quiet. I'd
suggest to add the --quiet option, but actually let it do nothing until
we've made sure that sufficiently many packages use it.
