Sorry, for not reacting that long! I've lowered your bug to wishlist.
I don't think calling updmap automatically is a very good idea, as a
lot of postin scripts of font packages already do so and we'd have to
file wishlist bugs against them to prevent them from calling updmap
twice. What do you think about an echo command in update-updmap,
which reminds you to call updmap?
