Yes, and in all cases, I think, it is probably better to keep separate
source packages, too. Also for lmodern, I think, at least until it is
officially released: It will probably have a much faster release cycle
than teTeX. 

Florent, I think you can delete "look at tetex-beta with respect to
lmodern fonts" from your agenda.
