Bug#232344: tetex-bin: xdvi ignores my shrinkFactor app-defaults setting

Works for me too. Note however that the xdvi shell wrapper in
teTeX changes XFILESEARCHPATH to point to the contents of

$ kpsewhich -progname=xdvi --format='other text files' XDvi

so that the XDvi appres file from the teTeX distribution is
used instead of /etc/X11/app-defaults/XDvi.  So please check if
you have a different setting in that file.

Actually I'm not quite sure why this is done - maybe it should
add to the path instead of overriding it? I'm CC'ing this to
Thomas so that he can comment on this too.
