Running /usr/bin/xdvi from bash command line works.
When using the menu, ~/.xsession-errors gets:

/bin/sh: /usr/bin/X11/xdvi: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: exec: /usr/bin/X11/xdvi: cannot execute: No such file or directory

I close this bug because this is a "feature" of our menu system and not a
bug in tetex-bin.

Terminating the X-session and starting it again fixed it.
Therefore, you must be right about the sequence of events.
