I'm not sure "debian-science admin folk" exist, but
I would recommend against introducing another VCS into the group mix
unless there are really compelling reasons (like you really need to
track upstream VCS and importing darcs into is hard; no idea if either
of those is true).  Ultimately, I think we want to have some group
wide status reports and other tools like pkg-perl does, and having one
VCS on the back end makes that much easier.
