Re: python matplotlib debian package

Dear Andrea:

The matplotlib packages have somewhat broken dependencies. This is what you get with unofficial packages. I have a complete set of working versions for sarge in my repository. Since they don't have complete dependencies, I had to install them by hand. In my recollection, you need
	libcairo1
	libpixman1
	python-gd
in addition to the python-matplotlib and python-matplotlib-data files.

The repository is

deb http://debian.phys.iit.edu/debian sarge main contrib non-free

I am working on getting a working set of packages for sid and I will be happy to send you an email about it when they are ready.

Thank you,
but I have tried it and I have a problem,
when I import pylab,or I run

ipython -pylab

I obtain the following error:

ImportError: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Effectively, I have not libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 in my system, but I did
not find it in any debian packages.

I use python 2.3,
and the version of python-matplotlib is 0.83.2-2

Hi all,
I'm interesting in python plotting libraries.
matplotlib seems quite interesting, but I'm not able to install it on
my computer.
There is a deb package for this python module?
