Bug#553671: Entering a password fails in KDE dialogs
Package: kdebase-runtime
Version: 4:4.3.2-1
Severity: important
Maybe the fault's in front of the keyboard, but I'm stumped.
- "kdesudo -c ls". "Password -KdeSudo"-dialog pops up. I enter
my password correctly. No reaction at all to "OK"-Button (except
for the 'click'-animation), no reaction at all to return key.
Only "Cancel" cancels the dialog.
=> kdesudo is unusable.
- Amarok trying to open the wallet "kdewallet" (last.fm login
info). Up pops the "KDE Wallet Service"-dialog. Same symptoms:
Correct password or incorrect password: No reaction at all
to the "Open" button (except for the 'click'-animation), no
reaction at to the return key. Only clicking "Cancel" works
(closes the window, but does not open the wallet, obviously).
- In Amarok: Selecting the music source Internet | Last.fm I get a
"Password - Amarok" window, where I can enter "Username:" and
"Password:" Entering them I get the same result: no reaction
to return key, no reaction (except 'click'-animation) when
clicking on "OK", only a reaction to "Cancel".
=> Amarok: last.fm cannot be used.
- Create a new wallet with kwalletmanager, call it "pwTT",
give it password "TT". Close the wallet. Try to open it
again with the kwalletmanager. Same symptoms ... see
above.
=> kwalletmanager can partially be used, but what can be
done is largely pointless.
=> Probably every "Enter a password" dialog is broken. Maybe it
has something to do with the routine doing the "Show three
bullets for each letter" part (as set in my case in (translated)
the system settings -> personal information -> password and
user information.
Since that breaks several parts of KDE, I've rated it as important
(or is that critical because it breaks or impedes unrelated
software like kdesudo?)
Anything I could try?
