Package: akonadi-server
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Akonadi-server shouldn't be in debian. Perhaps it could be in experimental.
It doesn't work, i try to fix something and restart it. It doesn't close mysqld
so the old instance has the lock over the database and the new instance will
give one more problem.
As in bug #547557, it claims D-Bus isn't working when it is actually working.
Korganizer and Kaddressbook shouldn't depend on it, because i tried to edit
the control file, remove the akonadi dep, and they were working.
This is against debian policy, take a look here:
http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/ch-dreq.en.html#s-control

Debian policy also says that a package should be tested.
Looks like akonadi-server was never tested on a clean box, because i've never
have seen it working, and surely i did try several times.

Goodbye

Hi Salvo,

akonadi is one of the "pillar" technologies being KDE 4 and it is here to
stay. The good new is you are not forced to use it, just open System
Settings, go to the "Advanced" panel select "akonadi configuration" and
disable it.

Ana
