Bug#544589: konsole: Very slow when using Misc-Fixed

Package: konsole
Version: 4:4.3.0-2
Severity: normal

I believe this problem began after upgrading from 4.2 to 4.3.

When I use the Fixed font in Konsole, which is a bitmapped font, it is
now very slow. For instance, if I am using less and press spacebar to
see the next page, it takes about a second to respond to my command.
Typing text at a shell prompt isn't slow, but again ls -l on a large
directory feels very "blocky".

Switching to Bitstream Vera Sans Mono makes the problem go away, but I
really liked the Fixed font better. It puzzles me because the Fixed
font should use far less CPU time to render in any case.
