MySQL is currently a dependeny of the Akonadi server, which KAddressbook indirectly depends on through the Akonadi based addressbook plugin. Some of the developers are working on getting SQLite to behave properly (has issued with multi threading). For the time being MySQL is a reliable option which can be used without requiring users to do any manual database setup. Cheers, Kevin
