Package: ksmserver
Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6etch2
Severity: important
The startscript supposed to start the kde session makes broken assumptions.
The scripts expects a local Xserver, which is false in Xterminal configurations where the xserver is on a remote device.
Kdesession startup is slow because the script does scary things (investigationg and configuring fonts and doing Xserver
manipulations.
Took us 3 days in a 20 user Xterminal situation to figure out, that a missing local xserver has caused breaks and login failures.
We got rid of most of the problems after installing a xserver on the headless hardware.
This whole script needs some overhaul.

Hi,
You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/480882
in the Debian BTS against the package ksmserver.
Debian has switched to KDE 4 in unstable and ksmserver
does not exist in KDE 4. Therefore, I am closing this bug as fixed
in *unstable*. The bug will remain open for stable since it is
shipping KDE 3.5.
Ana
