After loading the last session the Desktop Preview & Pager just shows
the desktop's numbers and a gray background for my desktops (except the
one I am using at the very first moment after logging in). I have to
switch the desktop first, when I want Desktop Preview and Pager to show
the backgrounds.
In my opinion the app should load the background like the pager you can
launch in the Desktop Preview & Pager menu.

Hi,
You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/440315
in the Debian BTS against the package kicker.
Debian has switched to KDE 4 in unstable and kicker
does not exist in KDE 4. Therefore, I am closing this bug as fixed
in *unstable*. The bug will remain open for stable since it is
shipping KDE 3.5.
