Bug#513734: kdebase-workspace: locking the screen is not working if kdm is not installed
Package: kdebase-workspace
Version: 4:4.2.0-1
Severity: important
Hi,
if kdm is not installed locking the screen does not work.
The error message is something like:
Will not lock screen as unlocking would be impossible.
No appropriate greeter plugin configured.
I'm suspecting that the workspace needs one of those files:
(not sure if all of them are needed)
/usr/lib/kde4/kgreet_winbind.so
/usr/lib/kde4/kgreet_generic.so
/usr/lib/kde4/kgreet_classic.so
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdm_greet
As screen locking is something that should really work in a default
desktop installation, the kdebase-workspace should either depend on kdm
or those files should be moved into a more central package like
kdebase-workspace-bin.
Cheers,
Michael
