Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-5
Severity: wishlist

Hello, i can see that konqueror has a very old rendering engine that does not confront to today's browsing needs.
frequent users of konqueror may see the browser's incompatibility with pages like google maps, gmail, or even slashdot.
anyway, what i suggest is that konqueror 3.x series is recompiled(if possible) to use the khtml engine that konqueror 4.x series use,
that is much more compatible, or even the webkit engine, which is open-sourced and derived as you all know from khtml.
Thanks for your attention and time.

We are not fulfilling this wish for several reasons :
  - lenny (testing) has been in feature freeze for a long time
  - there's no simple way to use khtml4 or webkit in konqueror3
  - even if it was possible to hack this, we (the distribution) are not
supposed to do such a big functionality change, this is evil. Debian policy is
to stick as much as possible to upstream (they are the ones who know best).

But if konqueror3 doesn't fit you, you can use konqueror4 from the lenny
backports (kde.debian.org), or one of the numerous web browsers Debian ships.
