Please, vote/add your comment to get those patches integrated direclty in KDE, it is 
already reported at:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98695
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118475

I'm afraid it is too late for KDE 3.5 but you could try with KDE 4.1
