I have not researched tihs very much, only a bit. As far as I can see, fam/gamin in general works better and more reliable on network file systems (nfsmounts, smbmounts and ...) than inotify. Removing this might screw it up for people using kde on nfsmounts and such things. I do not yet feel like removing fam/gamin is a good idea. /Sune -- How may I log in the port 98 from AutoCAD 92 and from the preferences inside Internet Explorer?
