When I first installed kopete, it could not find any of its plugins
(MSN, AIM, etc.), making it unusable.

Then, after I restarted KDE, the problem went away permanently.

It would be nice if this could be fixed.

If not, perhaps there should be a notification printed out by the
postinst script and a README.Debian as follows.

After installing Kopete, you must restart KDE before it will work
properly. If you do not, you may be unable to set up any instant
messaging or chat services.
