How about making the displayed world sphere always show the region of
the user? Or at least the continent? Not everyone wants to see North
America there or is just pleasantly suprised to see Africa or, in my
case, Europe there.

The default splashscreens do no longer have a world sphere on them - so I 
think this bug is ready to be closed ;)
