I use kmail in gnome 1.4 environment.

Sometimes - not always - kmail doesn't permit me work with received mail attachments: 
putting the mouse on them indicates something like "part:2", and the corresponding right 
button operations are "open URL:" and "View" (if I remember correctly).

In this situation I cannot do nothing with the attachments.

The last time it happened, was resolved opening a nested kde session. There, all right. 
The only thing: konqueror hung up. Coming back to the parent gnome session, all was right.

I remember that while the attachments didn't work, "ps ax" produced a line like "kdeinit: 
dcopserver --nosid --suicide", while the "--suicide" arg wasn't present during the nested 
kde session. However, another time it appears going back to the original gnome session with 
kmail running (this way without attachment problems).
