Bug#338336: kpovmodeler starts up - just about displays the opening screen then silently exits.

I have just loaded in kpovmodeler from the unstable archive and attempted to start it. It quickly gets the point where
I can see the opening screen (there does not appear to be a splash screen) and then exits - without any indication of why.
