  hi, as amd64 is not an officially supported architecture, I think you
  would get more probability of having this fixed if you contact the
  debian-amd64 people directly.

  which is not to say that we don't care, only that the maintainer
  probably won't upload a package just to fix *that*. if an upload is
  performed to fix some other bugs, then most likely the fix will get
  in, from my POV.

  therefore, you can ask them to apply the patch for this version only.
