Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.3.0a-1
Severity: normal

This is a package issue. not related to kdm itself
I thought of sending this as a wish, however I suspect it to be error.

At kdm install time, apt notices the configuration file /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc has
been changed by me, and request to reset it to the default from package.

this should normally never be the case.

This question should never be asked, file should be left alone.

it is related to dpkg, in fact.

this question is *only* asked if the user edited the file **AND** the
default file (as shipped in the package by the maintainers) changed between
the installed version and the one about to be installed.

this is done so you can easily notice and become aware that a manual
merging may be necessary. note that the default answer (what you'll
get by just presing intro) is to keep the user's version.

if this questions really annoy you, you may always use the dpkg
"--force-confold" option, which can also be specified in the dpkg
config file /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg, thus enabling to definitely get rid of
  those questions.

  I'm closing the bug.

  thanks,
