In the meantime, I managed to find the solution with the environment variable KDE_NO_IPV6 It has to be set up globally (ie. for all users). Editing the /etc/environment file as root to add KDE_NO_IPV6=true *does* disable kde ipv6 lookups. Thanks to Adeodato Simó for the hint ;-) Cheers, Julien
