  yes, most likely because they are marked as "auto-installed" (think of
  libraries). you'll have to mark all kdegraphics packages you want to
  keep (e.g., kpaint) as manually installed. then aptitude will refrain
  from removing them upon removing the kdegraphics metapackage.
