Bug#265895: kdebase: kde won't start with tcsh as shell
This a "me too": I observe the same problem, immediately after the upgrade
to 3.3. My setup is like that of the submitter, except I run a 2.4
kernel.
The only visible report when the problem occurs is the entries in
"auth.log", and they don't really tell anything new:
Aug 16 09:00:55 nellike kdm: :0[1334]: (pam_unix) session opened for user tedpcn by (uid=0)
Aug 16 09:00:56 nellike kdm: :0[1334]: (pam_unix) session closed for user tedpcn
This only tells me that whatever the problem is, it happens very early in
the KDE setup process!
Please, if there is anything I can do to help hunt down this bug, tell me,
like turning on some trace or debug. Otherwise, the 3.3 release seems to
work just fine and I love it - but this bug is a show-stopper.
all the best
