Bug#255986: konqueror: wrong input order with scim

Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: normal

I'm using unstable packages and am not sure the situation with the stable
packages.

The issue is: when input with scim (the Smart Common Input Method) on
konqueror, such as the address edit combo, the caret does not move to the end
of the input phrase, but before it, as if the caret is fixed and the phrase
is inserted after the caret. That is counterintuitive to a Chinese reader, or
most writing systems that writes from left to right.

I confirm that scim works as expected with other KDE applications and
mozilla-firefox. I also admit that Chinput (another Chinese input method
program) works correctly with Konqueror as well.

However, I suspect the bug is on the Konqueror side, assuming Chinput is
designed only for Chinese and simply ignores the writing direction hint while
scim takes the hint seriously, and thus giving rise to the odd behavior.

I also find the sampe problem when I input to subject/cc/ edit lines on kmail
(but not with the text area that one writes the body of a message in). Thus
the bug might be due to the KDE libs that both konqueror and kmail use, or to
konqueror and kamil (which seems to be more likely).

For the time being, I submit the bug to konqueror. If proven otherwise, please
reassign the bug to the appropriate package.

Thanks!
