Bug#236806: Yes I think DisplaySize is the right solution



The Problem is, if you upgrade from an previous installation and the "-dpi" Option was set before and DisplaySize was not set . Than you search for a long time to find out, why your fonts are so small now. This is even worse as you remember that you only upgraded KDE and not X. So probably XF86Config-4 should be scanned for this value and a warning message should be displayed.
