Last I heard, freenode does not respect any project decisions: the
management ends up with freenode staff quite easily.
Marginally accurate but very misleading. A project does not implicitly
"own" any channels which are named after it.
I did not say "own" deliberately. I think this is a matter of respect.
freenode has gone against the express wishes of other projects. Will
it respect Debian? If not, should we point irc.debian.org at a service
that is out of control?
Their current web site seems to be quiet about what influence a
have over its channel.
The webside doesn't bother to say how much influence a Belgian can
have over a channel either - why should it?
I think how freenode handles the official channel of a Belgian is not
the discussion here, although there may be some similarities.
