Default PPC64 kernel supports SMP, so the installation guide is wrong?

Hi All,

According to "Debian GNU/Linux Installation Guide", "2.1.4. Multiple
Processors" ( http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/powerpc/ch02s01.html.en#id2531373
):

"... However, the standard Debian 4.0 kernel image does not support SMP..."

I installed the latest Debian 4.0r3 on a IBM POWER4 server (arch is
PPC64), and found that the SMP is enabled by default:
# uname -a
Linux myname 2.6.18-6-powerpc64 #1 SMP Mon Feb 11 16:53:36 UTC 2008
ppc64 GNU/Linux

# grep processor /proc/cpuinfo
processor : 0
processor : 1

Therefore the installation guide is wrong?
