Please try booting a non-prehistoric kernel version :)

Seriously, it would be interesting to try out the etch/beta2 images, which
carry 2.6.15, or even better the daily builds, which carry 2.6.16 right now,
and soon 2.6.17.

If the problem still persists on those, the correct course of action is to
file a bug report against the linux-2.6 package, and tag the subject with
[powerpc]
