Wrong: The log I saw was made earlier, by, if the logs are correct, a
2.4.47 Kernel. Sorry to say ...

And SCSI seems to be unstable on 2.6.x ?: I just had to reboot the
machine to let the kernel recognise a disk at the FireWire connector:
The disk label says it's a HITACHI, but the Linux logs says it's an
LSILogic model .. Perhaps that's why sometimes it won't be seen at all
... :)

But IIRC this was a problem on 2.6.8 already, too .. so probably
nothing specific for 2.6.10 ..

The hard disk is model HTS548040M9AT00 on this page:

more specs:

And here's probably why the sticker on the disk says HITACHI and the
linux log LSILogic:

"Milpitas and San Jose, Calif. - March 25, 2003 - LSI Logics Storage
Standard Products division (http://lsilogic.com/storage) and Hitachi
Global Storage Technologies (http://www.hgst.com) today announced
plans to coordinate their respective product development efforts to
speed delivery of next-generation Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)
technology. The companies plan to share design implementations,
performance testing results and debug information, as well as
participate in other joint activities."

Sorry if the URL above is a "one-session-only" one ...
