Wolfgang, you trouble me, ... It should not work for you, and if it does, i
need to know why.

Can you :

  grep kernel-image-powerpc /var/cache/debconf/templates.dat

  tell me if you have the debconf priority set to something else than hihg ?


Mmm, the main difference seems to be that you apt-get installed it instead of
ftping it and then dpkg -i'ings it.
