Ok. I recompiled the kernel with the usb mouse module enabled. The various files are here: http://sage.che.pitt.edu/~harrold/tmp/powerbook/new_kernel/ modprobe loaded the module just fine, but I'm not sure which device it should be. I tried to cat all of the mouselike devices in /dev/input, but none gave any output when I touched the touchpad.
