My workstation at the office has VMware 4.5 installed on it - I've tried Darwin (and OpenDarwin) in 4.0 and 4.5 versions. In 4.0.x, it caused the virtualization process to die; in 4.5.x, it boots far enough to try to initialize the IDE controllers, and then sits there forever trying to talk to the virtual disks and CD-ROM drive. I've tried Googling for something mentioning what would need to be done to make it work, and haven't been able to find anything yet.
