Re: kernel 2.6 and ALSA on an iBook

hello again,

unloading dmasound_* works for me with 2.4 kernels (recent benh).
However, when booting 2.6.4 (-ck2 branch) no modules are loaded at
all and of course sound does not work.
Is it possible to switch between 2.4 and 2.6 series and let modules
be loaded automagically? Well, if only 2.6 kernels would work it'd be
ok too ;-)

Thanks,
Rob

not quite or is your sound device really attached via USB? i believe
snd-powermac should be your ALSA-module of choice. dmasound_pmac is
OSS,
btw and might interfere with ALSA, so you should unload it
beforehand.
if automatic loading of snd-powermac fails, you can put it into
/etc/modules.
