not quite or is your sound device really attached via USB? i believe
snd-powermac should be your ALSA-module of choice. dmasound_pmac is OSS,
btw and might interfere with ALSA, so you should unload it beforehand.
if automatic loading of snd-powermac fails, you can put it into
/etc/modules.
