You can configure that threshold with pmud as well. As is, it is set to
six minutes of time left. (How does that correlate to what pbbuttonsd
uses?). You usually want to drain the battery as far as possible, so six
minutes or around 5% are a good compromise.

Battery charge reporting is not always accurate enough to ensure it doesn't
drop from > 6 minutes to zero in no time. I have started to look into a
critically low voltage threshold as well for pmud but haven't made any
headway yet.
There are ways to recalibrate the battery that have been posted here in
the past, so this should be not much of an issue.
