harddisk inacessible in G4PowerBook

hello all

I'm a new list member but not at all new to Linux (using a G3PowerBook
with LinuxPPC since 2000). I just bought a new G4 15'' and got stuck
during Linux installation (actually, just after the starting point):

Booting my G4 PowerBook (model 5.2, PPC G4 1.1 1GHz, boot rom 4.71f1) the
harddisk remains invisible to Linux, while the Combo CD-RW/DVD-R is
accessible.

System Profile (OSX 10.3)
ATA-3 Bus: MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8122
ATA-6 Bus: FUJITSU MHT2060AT (=55GB hard disk)

dmesg:

so it looks like that ide_pmac does not detect my harddisk. I've tried
several kernel boot parameters. But as I don't have much experience with
this, I'm not really able to test systematically.

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on, or where I could find
further information?

Thanks in advance
Bernhard
