switch to console 2 (alt+F2), type enter to get the console, remove the
libpam-modules with :
dpkg --force-depends --purge libpam-modules
This will break your dependency, which is expected, you can then quickly
do a :
apt-get -f install
And let it fix it again.
Then return to console 1 (alt+F1) and continue as usual. Maybe you will
have to kill the process with Ctr-C or something such, and it will ask
you again about re-retrieving the files.
Anyway, you can restart the base instalation by running base-config or
something such.
