I just downloaded and verified the current root.bin works on an
oldworld, so there must be something going on with either the floppy
drive you're writing with or the one in the mac. Maybe blow the dust
out?
You could check to see what you have on the floppy matches
the file with
diff -b root.bin /dev/floppy
