Powerbase240 Mac clone install prob continued

thanks to those who have thrown me some clues.
I've swapped a compaq presario 1400 monitor for an old Macintosh monitor from
92-95... and I am still not getting a boot from the hard drive.

Here is my partition. I plan this system to be only linux and a basic
workstation:

/dev/sda 1 apple 31.5k
/dev/sda 2 root 250m
/dev/sda 3 swap 128 m
/dev/sda 4 var 500m
/dev/sda 5 usr 1.2 Gigs

the machine: Powercomputing Powerbase240 Mac clone.

my cpuinfo said:

processor :0
cpu :603ev
clock :240MHz
revision :2.1
bogomips :13.76
zero pages :total 0 (0kb) current: 0 (0kb) hits: 0/61 (0%)
machine :Power Macintosh
motherboard :AAPL,e407 MacRISC
pmac-generation :OldWorld

and, per advice , I checked dmesg. I painstakingly typed out it all out below
at the very bottom...

does anyone see anything that might be keeping it from booting from the hard
drive or affecting the monitor in a way where I wouldn't be able to see the
boot?
Or anything else for that matter.
As of now, at the boot it flashes twice or thrice then...darkness. As a
newbie, I look at it and scratch my head a little.
Does this look like a monitor problem or a video card problem or
a-patch-that-i-can-download-from-the-web problem.?

any ideas?

...much appreciation

Thanks...
