Powerpc Newbie (linux oldie)

Hello Everyone,

I am very new to powerpc linux (just installed it on my new to me ibook) and have a couple of questions.

1. Where do I get good kernels? I tried to d/l 2.4.19 from a kernel mirror but the compile blew up. I'm assuming there is a better place to get stable kernels from (or the patches).

2. How do you get around the fact that the ibook only has one button? Many of the window managers have menus set to right/left/double clicks.

3. Any good hints/help for running on an Ibook would be apprciated.

4. Is there a way to install linux w/o having mac os installed? I originally had a 3 gig drive with os 9 on it. I followed instructions I found and had linux up and running with journalling filesystems. However, when I burned the debian3.0 cd to install on the new 40 gig drive I installed last night, it did not offer me the option of having a journaled filesystem. Is there a special way to install so that I can have the journaled filesystems (or a clean way to convert from ext2 to ext3 or reiserfs?

Thanks,

chris
