Yeah, everything seems fine. It was an eBay computer, but just to test it
out I surfed around a bit under the Mac OS. No problems on that front

When you did an 'ifconfig', did your eth0 appear to have a valid IP address (i.e. one assigned by your ISP)? It would be strange to be able to send/receive data from your ISP's DHCP server, but not their nameserver.
